On 23 August 2023, India became the first country in history to land a spacecraft near the lunar south pole. The Vikram lander touched down at 85°S latitude, and the Pragyan rover rolled out to explore terrain no other nation's spacecraft had ever reached. India had arrived at a place where no one else had gone.
ISRO — the Indian Space Research Organisation — has, in the past decade, produced a series of mission achievements that rank among the most cost-effective and technically accomplished in global space history: Mangalyaan (Mars Orbiter Mission) on its first attempt for less than the budget of the film Gravity; Chandrayaan-2's partial success followed by Chandrayaan-3's complete lunar landing; and Aditya-L1's journey to the Sun-Earth Lagrange point for solar observation.
These are not just scientific achievements. They are national achievements. And they belong on every Indian child's shelf.

Why ISRO Models Matter for Children
A scale model of a spacecraft does something that a photograph or a video cannot: it places the object in three-dimensional space, at arm's reach, and allows a child to understand its geometry and function through touch as well as sight.
When a child picks up the Vikram lander and rotates it, they can see:
- Where the four landing legs articulate to absorb touchdown impact
- Where the Pragyan rover was stored before deployment
- Where the solar panels charge the onboard systems
- The scale relationship between the lander and the rover — how large each actually was relative to the other
This is hands-on science education. It cannot be replicated by a screen. Our ISRO models are used in schools, science clubs, and home learning environments across India — and in Indian family homes in the Gulf and the diaspora, where they serve as both educational tools and proud statements of national achievement.
