ISRO Space Science Series: Chandrayaan, PSLV and Mangalyaan Models Made in Kerala

India's space programme produces some of the most remarkable engineering stories of the modern era. Chandrayaan-3's soft landing on the lunar south pole in 2023. Aditya-L1's journey to observe the Sun. The upcoming Gaganyaan crewed mission. For children studying science in Kerala's schools, these missions are not distant events — they are part of the curriculum, the news cycle, and increasingly, the career horizon.

FOFUS has developed the ISRO Space Science Series — a collection of precision-crafted models of India's landmark spacecraft and launch vehicles, designed for classrooms, home learning, and display.

The ISRO Space Science Series Collection

The current series includes five models, each representing a key mission or vehicle in India's space programme:

1. Chandrayaan-3 Lander — Vikram

The Vikram lander that successfully touched down on the lunar south pole on August 23, 2023, making India the fourth nation to achieve a soft Moon landing. The model captures the four-legged landing structure, the solar panels, and the Pragyan rover deployment ramp. Scale: 1:50.

2. PSLV-C57 Launch Vehicle

The Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle in its XL configuration — India's most reliable launch vehicle. The model shows the characteristic four liquid strap-on boosters and the payload fairing. This vehicle carried Aditya-L1 to its trajectory. Scale: 1:200.

3. Aditya-L1 Solar Observatory

India's first solar observation mission, now positioned at the Lagrange Point 1 between Earth and Sun. The model captures the seven payloads and the distinctive sunshade design. Includes a display stand with mission data card.

4. Mangalyaan — Mars Orbiter Mission

India's first interplanetary mission, which reached Mars orbit in 2014 on its first attempt — a feat achieved by no other nation on their debut Mars mission. The model includes the solar panels and the spacecraft bus structure. Scale: 1:50.

5. GSLV Mk III (LVM3) — India's Heavy Lift Vehicle

The rocket that will carry Gaganyaan astronauts to orbit. The LVM3 model shows the two solid strap-on motors, the cryogenic upper stage, and the crew module fairing. Scale: 1:200.

Educational Applications

The ISRO Space Science Series is designed for three contexts:

School Science Departments

Models serve as teaching aids for CBSE Class 8–10 Science topics including motion, satellite orbits, gravity, fuel types, and atmospheric re-entry. Each model comes with a curriculum-mapped information card connecting the spacecraft to specific CBSE syllabus topics.

Home Learning and Collections

For children with an interest in space science, this series provides a tangible, displayable collection that tracks India's space milestones. The models are sized for standard display shelving and include stands.

Institutional and Trophy Use

Several schools and science departments in Kerala use ISRO models as science fair trophies, interhouse competition prizes, and institutional gifts for visiting educators. Custom base plates with institution name and year are available for institutional orders.

Made in Kerala: ISRO Models by FOFUS

Every model in the ISRO Space Science Series is artisan-crafted at GNI Labs LLP in Irinjalakuda, Thrissur. The models are produced using precision manufacturing with PLA materials, finished with aerospace-accurate colour schemes, and packaged with information cards.

GNI Labs holds Udyam (MSME) registration and has supplied educational models to government institutions including NIPMR (Ministry of Health, Government of India). All products are invoice-compliant for institutional purchase.

GeM and Institutional Purchase

The ISRO Space Science Series is available for institutional purchase via the Government e-Marketplace (GeM). Schools, colleges, science departments, and government institutions can place orders with GST-compliant invoicing. Contact support@fofus.in with your institutional purchase requirement.
